13 long listed for the ACT Literature Prize

The award, which is for unpublished writers, is an initiative of award winning Nigerian-novelist Chika Unigwe and is designed for writers between the ages of 16 and 26 with a cash prize of N50, 000 and a six month online writing course with an ACT mentor for the winner.
The longlist of 13 will be whittled down to 5 from which a winner will be chosen. The long listed writers are:

 “What you Saw in the Mirror” by Imade Iyamu,
“Telling My Own Stories”  by Ovuoda David Nkwuda,
 “Memories of the Past” by Miracle Adebayo,
 “Being a Man” by  Adeola Opeyemi Salau
“Bits and Pieces” by Caleb Adebayo
“Little Mum” by JB Mairubutu
 “Patron of Matrimony” by Dam Michael
 “It Happened” by Charles Opara
 “In Afikpo” by Chioma Iwunze Ibiam
  “No Fireflies in the Rain” by Hymar David

Honorable Mention:
“Dead in Those Shoes” by  Ako Julie Onoshiokhue
The shortlist will be announced on the January 20th and a winner will be announced in February.
