A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday restrained the National Assembly from acting further on the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2018 wherein it changed the sequence of elections.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed in a ruling today ordered all the parties to maintain status quo ante bellum, until the next adjourned date being Tuesday March 21.

The judge invoked Section 6(6) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the court to protect the cause of action.

The judge directed service of hearing notice on the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

President Muhammadu Buhari had declined assent to the Bill, even as the Accord Party filed the action in court.
