The police in Ogun State have arrested a 31-year-old Islamic cleric (Alfa), Jubril Dalamun, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesman in the state, Omolola Odutola, on Thursday, said the suspect was arrested after a report by the mother of the child.
According to Odutola, the victim’s mother, Kehinde Kafayat, a resident of Ago Iwoye, reported that Dalamun had forcibly assaulted and defiled her daughter.
She said, “On October 22, 2024, the Divisional Police Officer received a report of a sexual assault involving a minor at 9:40am.
‘’One Mrs Kehinde Kafayat, a resident of Ago Iwoye, accompanied her 12-year-old daughter to report at the station.
‘’She reported that on Saturday, October 19, 2024, around 1pm, a 39-year-old man, Alfa Jubril Dalamun, residing at No. 8 Imososi Street in Ago Iwoye, forcibly assaulted and defiled her daughter.”
Odutola said the suspect was arrested, while the victim was taken to a hospital in Ago Iwoye for medical examination and treatment.
She added that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and likely prosecution.
