The family members of a 22-year-old woman, Kabirat Sobola, allegedly killed by her boyfriend have accused the police in Ogun State of releasing some accomplishes of the suspected killer of their daughter.

The family’s spokesman, Kehinde Sobola, who spoke in Abeokuta, said the three suspects in connection with the murder had been released by the police.

Sobola, who noted that he was a twin brother to the deceased’s father, said he was part of the team that discovered the corpse of the victim in her room.

He claimed that the 26-year-old boyfriend, Akeem Kabiru, who had been held by the police and remanded in a correctional centre and others who were involved in the murder case had been released.

He said Kabirat’s friend, identified as Fola, and Kabiru, were first asked to write a statement by the police over the murder.

He said that Fola, a herbalist, and an alfa who were reportedly in possession of the deceased’s picture must be arrested.

Sobola said that he was at the police station when the prime suspect told the police that he sent the deceased’s picture to an alfa and a herbalist.

He added that Kabiru was suspected when he asked a family member for the deceased’s mother’s name while claiming that his herbalist and alfa asked him to supply the name to unravel her whereabouts.

 When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the matter had been taken over by the homicide section and that the suspect had been remanded in a correctional centre.

 He said, “We have not released any suspect. The suspect had been in the correctional centre. The matter is a murder case.”
