The demand for N3.6billion compensation by the community is unreasonable and highly unjustifiable. It is a show of disrespect and lack of appreciation of the efforts of the federal government to bring development to the grassroots.  Despite the fact that the construction company paid compensation to all land and crop owners affected by the project, the community still went ahead to institute a court action against it, all in a bid to stop the project.
How can a community mobilise to stall a bridge project of such magnitude when it is obvious that the community has much to benefit? I want to believe that it is the action of some individuals who are trying to use the community to achieve selfish interests.  This project is for the general good of the people, and no individual or group, no matter how highly placed, should derail the good intentions of the federal government.
