The Chairman Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Giri, has begun the upgrading of Zuba market.
He said the remodeling was part of measures put in place by the current leadership of the council to manage public facilities for the good of the residents.
The chairman also announced that the market has been changed to a weekly market.
Giri disclosed this during the flag off ceremony of renovation of the market which is in collaboration with Lion property Consult under a public private partnership.
Giri, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Muhammad Kasimu, said the market renovation was aimed at proper managing of public facilities like markets, parks and recreational centres.
The developer and Chief Executive Officer, Lion Property Consult, Mazi Agu, said with the current development, the market is rising up to greater heights in managing public property.
The Zuba main market was built the same time with the present popular Wuse Market in Abuja Metropolitan area during the military administration of President Ibrahim Babangida.
Highlight of the occasion was the official handing over of the market to Lion Property Consult by the representative of the chairman and representative of the Agora of Zuba.
