Knowledge of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) will uplift the quality of justice delivery by justices of the Court of Appeal, the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice  Monica Dongban-Mensem has said.

Justice Dongban-Mensem, who spoke on Monday at the opening of a two-day training for justices of the court by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, challenged the justices to take advantage of the ICT training enhance their service delivery. 

Also speaking, Justice Jummai Sankey, who is the Chairman of the ICT Committee of the court, commended the PCA for introducing innovations such as in ICT, which she said will improve efficiency, productivity and quality of judgments.

 She said, “Now, with proper training and our computers, we are able to type out judgments ourselves, access the latest decisions of the Supreme Court, as well as the decisions of this court at the tap of a button.

“This will no doubt minimise the time spent in determining the myriad of appeals filed and pending before our courts and the relatively few justices available to attend to them.”

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, lbrahim Ali Pantami, who was represented by the Director General (DG) of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi, emphasised that the training was part of the federal government’s Digital Transformation Agenda.
