They have also urged security agents in the country to learn from the teachings of Islam in establishing security and communal peace.
Giving these pieces of advice in a communiqué issued at the end of the 9th annual seminar organised by the As-Sunnah Academy for Da’wah and Research, Ilorin and signed by Dr. Abdurrazaaq Abdulmajeed Alaro, the scholars noted that there is also clear injustice in the limitations of the jurisdiction of the Sharia Courts of Appeals against other courts in the country and urged Muslims to be concerned about the promotion of Sharia legal system in addressing their ordeals.
They lamented the level of disunity among Muslims in the country, saying that efforts by Islamic preachers and scholars at establishing unity in the Ummah are being threatened by serious challenges due to differences in the understanding of principles of the religion.
The scholars also observed that absolute unity is an established foundation of the religion of Islam, and that Islam places much emphasis on unity among the believers.
The scholars who authored the communiqué who are drawn from different Islamic organisations observed that disunity did not appear in the Islamic Ummah until the appearance of a group which deviated from the guidance of Allah’s Book and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) as understood by the pious predecessors.
They also observed that Islam itself is a religion as well as a community that does not differentiate between religious and other worldly organisations.
They urged the nation’s leadership to put more efforts towards establishing knowledge-based enlightenment programmes, such as seminars, symposia, and conferences for discussing Islamic texts relating to the unity of the Ummah and the importance of peace and security in human and economic development.
