ITF trains 5000 youth, others in Bauchi, Gombe

The Director General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Joseph Ari has disclosed that over five 5,000 people mostly youths, women and physically challenged have been trained by the Fund on different skills in Bauchi and Gombe states.
Ari who made this known at the 2020 Stakeholders’ Interactive Forum held Wednesday in Bauchi, said the trainings were done through Women Skills Empowerment Programme (WOSEP), Construction Skills Empowerment Programme (CONSEP), National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP), among others.
Represented by the Area Manager in Bauchi, Richard Baba, the DG explained that the beneficiaries were trained on tailoring and fashion design, welding and fabrication, crop production, solar installation, poultry farming, carpentry, hair dressing, and modern agriculture among others.
Ari said the interactive forum is one of the flagship programmes of the Fund that provides a platform to further strengthen existing relationships with stakeholders towards the nation’s economic development.
He added that building and maintaining a sustainable working relationship between the fund and stakeholders is very vital, as the session offers a unique opportunity towards addressing issues relating to the fund’s operations.
Ari also sympathised with them for all they went through during the COVID-19 period.
“We appreciate you all for taking the bold step in fulfilling your obligation by paying your one percent statutory training contribution and also going further to train members of your workforce amidst the economic crisis.”
