It is no longer news that a lot of people were killed in the attack. There is the need to provide adequate security in mosques and their environs during Juma’at prayers across the country. This measure would ensure that the lives and property of worshipers are protected before, during and after the prayers.
To say the least, the attack was quite barbaric, inhuman and ungodly. It has been condemned by every concerned human being on earth. Those merchants of death should have a rethink. Let them fear God, even if they don’t have any respect for human beings. It baffles me that human beings would invade a worship centre to shed innocent blood.
Provision of adequate security during prayers has become very important so as to forestall future occurrence. The security of worshipers should not be left in the hands of few individuals who are neither armed nor given any training in security matters.
It has become necessary to construct perimeter fences around most mosques across the country. This will help in no small measure to stop further occurrence.  Different mosque management committees should endeavour to provide such facilities. It has become compulsory that all worshipers be screened before they are allowed into any mosque. This will ensure that no explosive and harmful device is taken into the mosque.
The Muslim Ummah should cooperate with security agencies on all the measures that may be put in place to protect them from heinous attacks. It is for our own good. All hands must be on deck to chase away the people’s common enemy. Every suspicious movement must be confronted and reported to the authorities concerned. Security agents need everybody’s cooperation.
