Local government staff in Kogi under the aegis of Joint Action For Local Government Workers and Pensioners have passed a vote of no confidence on labour union leaders for failing to fight for their wellbeing.
The group in a letter signed by Comrade Abdullahi Rufai, gave some conditions which the heads of labour unions in the state must meet within 14 days, or be pulled out.

Among some of the conditions stated in the letter is that the leadership of NULGE should immediately withdraw its statement on the issue of 50 per cent as a benchmark for council workers’ salaries.
The group also called for the immediate resignation of the State Chairman of NUT, Ayodele Thomas for the fact that he’s no longer in active service.
The group also want the union officials to further engage the government for better welfare by demanding 100 percent payment of N18,000 old minimum wage and enhanced pension package for its members.
It also urged the unions to do an independent staff and payroll auditing to ascertain the staff strength and the financial implications thereof, saying that it will enable them to engage the government better.
