Man dies in scuffle with school bus driver who defiled his 7-year-old daughter
A 47-year-old Lagos man, Frederick, has been killed in a fight with the bus driver of his seven-year-old-daughter, Jacob, following an allegation that the driver defiled his daughter.
It was gathered that Frederick, in company of his wife and the daughter had gone to meet the school’s management about the defilement allegation.
Explaining what happened, the late Fredrick’s wife, said, “On Wednesday, February 1, my daughter told me that her school’s bus driver had been taking her to his house at Ajuwon on the pretext that he needed ‘to drop something at home’ and that she should follow him.
“When they entered the house, the driver would ask my daughter to sit on his lap; to raise her school uniform and to kiss.
“I told my husband what our daughter told me on Monday, February 6, and he called the school to lodge a complaint. He was told to come to the school. So, we went there on Tuesday, February 7, and met the school’s owner, the driver and some teachers.
“The owner of the school asked the driver about the allegation levelled against him, but he denied. My daughter was then asked and she narrated the same experience she told us at home.
“The driver couldn’t say anything other than to query: ‘Me, me, me?’
“My husband got angry and went to the driver, shouted at him and slapped him. They started fighting and he pushed my husband to the ground. All efforts to revive him were abortive. We rushed him to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.’’
The school’s director simply said he was assisting the police in hunting for the driver who absconded after the incident.
Spokesman of the police in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police were on the trail of the driver. (NAN)
