The year 2022 appeared to witness a number of weddings in the Kannywood industry as famous actors and actresses tied the knot with their beloved partners.
Within the year, Daily Trust counted eight marriages, three of them happened in February alone.
One of this year’s weddings include that of Mai Shadda & Hassana and Lilin Baba & Ummi Rahab who are all stars.

Ali Artwork
A famous comedian and a skilled artist of movie posters, Ali Muhammad Idris (Ali Artwork) tied the knot with his love on February 25, 2022. He was married to Hauwa’u Muhammad Bello.
The marriage took place at the Juma’a Mosque of Filin Kashu in Unguwa Uku, Kano, on a dowry of N100,000.
The actor, who is also nicknamed ‘Madagwal’, told Film magazine that Naziru M. Ahmad and Isah Bawa Doro were the only Kannywood actors who attended the wedding.
Aisha Tsamiya
On the same day Aisha Aliyu Tsamiya got married to her beloved husband around 11am at Sheikh Muhammed Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa’s mosque in Naibawa quarter, Kano State.
When she was preparing for her marriage, the actress wanted everything to be private but got leaked to the media. She deliberately issued a statement claiming that the wedding would not take place as scheduled.
Aisha chose to have a low key event. This is the reason she left many wondering.
Hafsat Idris
The next day, 26th of February 2022, Hafsat Idris got married secretly which initially refused to confirm her marriage, but she later posted on her Instagram handle confirming that she had got married.
Hafsat Idris, popularly known as ‘Hafsat Barauniya’ got married secretly and some media outlets to report that she married one of the late General Abacha’s sons.
But in the message she released to express her gratitude to the people who wished her well, the actress said, “I am sending my message of thanks to all my friends, family and friends for their good wishes for me.
“But I want to talk about the rumors that are going around that the husband I married is related to the Abacha family, then, this is not true.”
Mai Shadda & Hassana
What started as mere film processes between the famous Kannywood producer, Abubakar Bashir Mai Shadda and an actress of the film industry, Hassana Mohammed, ended up in marriage.
The duo got married March 13, 2022 at the Murtala Friday Mosque in Kano.
A huge crowd from within and outside the film-making industry graced the wedding Fatiha.
After the marriage rites were conducted, the ace producer took to his social media handles and wrote, ” To God be the glory! To God be the Glory!! My marriage with Hassana Mohammad, I seek my fan’s prayers for the success of our marriage.”
Lilin Baba & Ummi Rahab
Lilin Baba and Ummi Rahab are another set of Kannywood stars who married each other on June 13, 2022.
The two have constantly declared love for each other on Instagram, with Ummi at various times calling him ‘Mijina’ meaning my husband.
On her birthday in February 2022, the actor wrote on Instagram, “Na kusa in yi wuff da ke,” meaning I’ll soon marry you, referring to Ummi.
Kannywood actors that attended the wedding were Ali Nuhu, Umar M Sherif, TY Shaba among others.
Amina Lawan
One of the actresses in ‘Dadidin Kowa’ series of Arewa24, Raliya, whose real name is Amina Lawan also said goodbye to the movie industry as she married on July 23, 2022.
The actress married to her husband Habibu Abdullahi at the Old BUK Jumat Mosque in Kano.
Rukayya Dawayya
Famous Kannywood actress and film producer, Rukayya Umar Santa (Rukayya Dawayya) also tied the knot with Executive Director of Kano State Censorship Board, Sama’ila Na’abba Afakallah.
The wedding which took place at Tinshama Friday mosque has put to an end the rumours making the round that the duo were secretly dating.
Dawayya, a mother of one, was once married and had quit acting after the marriage. It was reported that after having a child, the marriage crashed and she staged a come back into the film making industry.
Speaking after the wedding, Dawayya said she felt fulfilled and prayed for other ladies to have husbands as good as hers.
Kannywood actors who graced the occasion included Adamu Sani, Auwalu Isma’il Marshal, Sani Sule Katsina, Baba Ƙarami, Ado Ahmad Gidan Dabino, Alhassan Kwalle, Alhaji Musa Maikaset, Nura Hussaini, Salisu Officer among others.
Halima Atete
Halima Yusuf Atete might be the last to get married this year from the industry with her long-time lover, Alhaji Muhammad Muhammad Kalla.
The wedding took place in Maiduguri on 26th November, 2022.
Atete’s husband is said to be a businessman from Maiduguri.
Friends and colleagues of Atete, including Ali Nuhu, Ahmad Bifa, and Abubakar Mai Shadda, expressed their happiness for her.
