Nigerians should expect credible 2023 census – NPC commissioner

A Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) representing Benue State, Patricia Kupchi, has assured Nigerians of a credible 2023 National Housing and Population Census.

Kupchi gave the assurance in her speech at a one-day capacity-building workshop for journalists on effective reporting of the 2023 Population and Housing Census held in Makurdi.

She explained that the commission had since 2017 migrated from manual to technology, adding that, “what we are doing is green census. Make sure you’re counted because you count.”

Also, the federal commissioner representing Ekiti State in NPC, Mr Ayodeji Ajayi, said the 2023 census was a critical national event meant to generate data for national planning.

He made the remarks in Ado-Ekiti yesterday in his welcome address at a workshop for journalists.

He solicited the cooperation of journalists as critical stakeholders to ensure a successful exercise.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Ekiti State Director of NPC, Mr Ademola Oladapo, said the programme was targeted at creating awareness on the preparatory activities of the NPC towards the exercise.
