Tragedy struck at the weekend as a housewife, Omolara Oluwakemi, reportedly murdered her husband over alleged infidelity in Ondo State.

Oluwakemi was accused of using a pestle to smash her husband, identified as Seidu Jamiu, while he was asleep in their residence at Akungba Akoko in Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state.

Daily Trust learnt that the couple had been living together for more than seven years before the unfortunate incident.

A family source, who confided in our reporter, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

He alleged that the suspect picked the pestle at the backyard of their bungalow to hit her husband on the head at the dead of night.

“There had been a misunderstanding between the couple over allegations of infidelity particularly against the man. His housewife had been accusing him of not being faithful in the marriage by keeping a ‘side chick’.

“Unfortunately, we learnt during the weekend that he had been killed by her wife. She was said to have used a pestle to smash him on the head. I was at the hospital and was moved to tears when I saw his corpse,” he said.

Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the state, confirmed on the telephone that the incident had been reported to the police

She, however, could not confirm the allegation that the woman murdered her husband, stressing that no arrest had been made on the murder case.

“I can’t confirm that the victim’s wife killed him because it was the woman who visited the station to also report the matter to us.

“We have not made any arrest now but investigation has begun to unravel the true state and position of the incident,” she added.
