The Muslim community in Mangu town in Mangu LGA of Plateau State have called on its members to remain calm following the recovery of the corpse of a commercial motorcycle rider, Bala Musa.

Sulaiman Haruna, one of the community’s leaders, who made the call on Tuesday, appealed to security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the act to ensure justice.

He said, “It is with great sorrow and deep concern that we bring to your attention a series of disturbing events unfolding in the aftermath of the recent crisis in Mangu. Reports indicate that innocent people engaging in their daily activities have become targets of brutal and unconscionable acts of violence.

“Musa was reported missing on July 15, 2024, following a journey wherein he transported a woman to her farm in Millet, a village on the outskirts of Mangu.

“Today, being the 21st day of July, 2024, with the assistance of the police, Musa’s remains were located and exhumed from a clandestine burial site. It is with utmost distress that we report the discovery of his body in a state of severe mutilation, with his head separated from his torso, his private parts cut off and other egregious acts of desecration perpetrated upon his person.’’

The community also urged the community and religious leaders, as well as government officials in the area, to unite in their effort to prevent further violence and promote reconciliation among all residents.
