Following the increasing rate of drug abuse among youths in Jos, the Plateau State capital and other parts of the state to curtail the menace, the Centre for Applied Spiritual Science Educational Foundation (CASS) has organised a public awareness campaign for critical stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Team Lead of Tattaunawa Initiative, Dr Prince Charles Dickson, pointed out how drug and substance abusers’ actions affect local communities.
Dr Dickson, who spoke on the topic ‘How Drug Abusers’ Action Affect Them’, explained that families and communities of drug abusers spent huge amounts of money daily for the treatment of their wards at rehabilitation homes.
He said substance abuse and rehabilitation are capital-intensive ventures that often have enormous expenses on families, thereby contributing to people’s hardships.

He called on the families and communities to always be vigilant about the activities of the youths and put measures in place to checkmate them before they engage in antisocial activities that are always a prelude to substance abuse.
