A Point of Sale (POS) operator, Mansur Ahmad, has lost about N5m to a suspected fraud syndicate, popularly known as yahoo boys, in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
In an interview with our reporter yesterday, the victim said that the money was lost under the care of his younger half-brother, Bashir Ahmad, who ran the business on his behalf, supported by another staff.
He said, “The boy left the office on Wednesday after a customer met him there demanding N150,000 cash he earlier transferred to him.
“From there he proceeded to an onion trader in the market and collected N100,000 from him. All calls made to his mobile phone contact that evening were rejected until around 10pm when he answered and disclosed a location where we rushed to meet him.
He said that before then, many customers besieged their office over claims of transactions that they made with his brother, which however were never received, as the boy kept complaining to them about network problem.
He further said that the total amount of money claimed by customers amounted to N5m.
Ahmad said that his brother was taken to the palace of the Sarkin Bwari, Alhaji Auwal Ijakoro, where he was interrogated, with the chief demanding him to disclose how the money got missing, but to no avail.
He added that, “Our parents from our home town called over the phone and demanded he meet them. He arrived there on Friday.
