Tractors imported from Czech Republic by the Taraba State government have started arriving the state. Similarly, accessories and spare parts of the tractors have arrived.
Twenty Cabrio compact tractors and 750 mini tractors had so far arrived Jalingo, the state capital.
Governor Agbu Kefas signed agreement for the supply of 100 tractors and 750 mini tractors with Knights A.S of the Czech Republic to supply 100 sets of Cabrio compact tractors and 750 mini tractors to improve agricultural practices and increase general agricultural output in the state.
Speaking on arrival of the equipment, the state Commissioner of Agriculture and Food Security, Prof. Nicholas Oliver Namessan, said the first batch contained 20 Cabrio Compact Tractors and 250 Global Mini Tractors.

According to him, the second batch will arrive in the next few weeks and assured farmers of the readiness of the government to revamp the agricultural sector.
He said the distribution of the machinery is targeted at genuine farmers in the state, immediately after its commissioning by the Governor Agbu Kefas.
Prof. Namessan further noted that 60 youths have been undergoing training on various aspects of the tractors’ operations and maintenance for the past two months in the first batch of the training also with the view to train them overseas.
