Union Bank, a prominent player in the banking sector in Nigeria, must prioritise valuing its customers by eliminating unnecessary follow-ups, especially after customers have met all the conditions required by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Union Bank must ensure that once customers meet CBNs, their transactions are processed without delay.

For almost a month, the bank failed to lift the “no debit mark” of some accounts despite completing and submitting all the necessary requirements set aside by CBN. This may cause inconvenience and financial hardship.

The modern banking industry thrives on trust and efficiency. Customers expect their financial institutions to provide seamless services without the burden of repetitive procedures. Unfortunately, as a victim of this recurrent follow-ups, I can boldly testify to the fact that Union Bank has been subjecting its customers to follow-ups even after they have complied with all stipulated requirements. This practice not only frustrates customers, but also tarnishes the bank’s reputation.

Compliance with CBN regulations is non-negotiable. However, once customers fulfill these conditions, it is imperative that their transactions proceed smoothly. Subjecting them to further scrutiny not only undermines their confidence in the bank, but also suggests inefficiency and lack of respect for their time and effort.

Valuing customers by respecting their time and effort is crucial for Union Bank’s long-term success. By eliminating unnecessary follow-ups and ensuring a seamless banking experience, Union Bank can strengthen customer loyalty and maintain its competitive edge in the financial industry.
