Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State has urged the Nigerian military and other law enforcement organisations not to rest on their oars in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast, despite recent gains they have made against the insurgents.
The governor spoke in his office in Damaturu yesterday when the commander of the newly established Nigerian Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency Special Forces School, Buni-Yadi, Brigadier-General Anthony Olu Folorunsho paid a courtesy visit on him.

“Although the military and other security agencies have turned the tide against Boko Haram terrorists to the extent that they are nearly defeated now, I want to urge you to remain on high alert. The operation Zaman Lafiya Dole now in force should be pursued to logical conclusion. It is extremely dangerous for the military to relax now,” the governor said.
The governor explained that his call for the military and other security agencies not to rest on their oars is informed by a Boko Haram attack on Kanamma Town, headquarters of Yunusari local government area of the State a few days ago in which about three people were injured.
The governor commended President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the nation’s top military echelon for stepping up the fight against Boko Haram and providing support to the military and other security forces on the ground in the insurgency-prone states, saying until the coming of the Buhari administration, the security forces were lacking in the resources and supplies needed to effectively confront the Boko Haram insurgency.
