Two young Nigerian brothers, Auwal Ahmed and Abubakar Bawa Ahmad, have developed an application to help with the COVID-19 pandemic response in Nigeria.
According to a statement, the app launched in November 2021, enables users to locate COVID-19 testing and vaccination centres in proximity to their locations.

Auwal is a doctoral student of public health at Claremont Graduate University, USA. He is a member of New York City Medical Reserve Corps that has been helping with COVID-19 pandemic response in New York City since the beginning of the public health crisis. He has decided that he should do something also for Nigeria.
Abubakar, a Computer Science student at Umaru Musa University, recently became the best student in the Computer Science department of the university. He joined Auwal in the project to develop the Nigeria COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Site Finder also called ‘Test&VaxNaija’.
Even though COVID-19 is not as threatening as it was, tests and vaccines can help us get out of the pandemic sooner rather than later,” said Auwal.
Abubakar said: “We want to thank the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) under the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy for their support. We also want to thank the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for their assessment and providing us with recommendations.”
In keeping with the ‘Who doesn’t thank people, doesn’t thank God’ tradition, the app creators said they are grateful to the people who have supported them.
