The Zamfara state police commissioner Mr Usman Nagoggo has asked the Fulani leaders to reach out to the armed bandits within two weeks as parts of the move to end the horrific attacks in the state.

Mr Nagoggo gave the charge at a meeting with Fulani leaders including the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and Ardos from all the 14 local government areas following the new peace road map being designed for the state.

He said they had spoken to the local vigilante group other wise known as “Yan Sakai” and asked them to halt further unlawful executions of suspected armed bandits adding that the government is very much committed to the peace process and the cease fire effort.

He added that all stakeholders would patiently and painstakingly review the process as the warring factions are brought on the table for the actualization of the peace pact.

In his response, the representative of the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders association of Nigeria, Alhaji Ahmad Mutawalle linked the crises to the massive deforestation and seizure of grazing lands by some forces.

“Grazing lands should be re demarcated and traditional institutions should be respected in such away that their good decisions are taken seriously by all and sundry,” he said.

Alhaji Ahmad then announced the dissolution of leadership of Miyetti Allah cattle breeders association of Nigeria in Zamfara state saying ” the decision will pave way for more committed leaders to come so that the armed men in the forest will be reached out to as soon as possible”

Responding too, a Fulani leader identified as Ardo Muhammadu Zurmi said he and other fulani leaders in the state would reach out to armed bandits in effort to bring back peace to the state.

He said since the state government is very much committed to peace this time around, peace would soon reign all over the state.

Ardo Muhammadu said the discrimination shown against Fulani was part of what had fuelled the crisis. He how ever expressed hope that the carnage would soon come to an end adding that armed bandits themselves are tired of the crisis.
