A vigilante lost his life and 13 others sustained varying degrees of injury in a ghastly car accident, while patrolling the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna highway in Kaduna State.

Daily Trust gathered that the accident occurred around 12: pm on Wednesday, when the Golf vehicle conveying the vigilantes had a collision with a trailer.

A community leader, Imam Hussaini Udawa, said the vigilantes were from Udawa town, volunteering to secure the highway from bandits’ attacks.

“Yes, they were our local vigilantes on duty. The incident happened close to a place called Labi, few kilometres from Udawa town along Birnin Gwari-Kaduna highway.

“The deceased, Sahabi Shuaibu, has since been buried, while 13 others that sustained injuries are receiving treatment at Birnin Gwari Hospital,” he said.
