1 injured as gunmen invade Edo community

One person identified as Monday was reportedly injured and several others displaced when gunmen attacked residents of Sobe in Owan West Local Government of Edo State.

It was gathered that the incident which happened on Tuesday night was the sixth attack on the community this year and came after a pastor and two others were killed two weeks ago in the community by gunmen.

Daily Trust reports that Monday was attacked with a machete and abandoned to die before help came his way and was rushed to a hospital.

“The gunmen laid an ambush in the community and on sighting the victims, they emerged from their hideout and inflicted machete cut on him and left him in the pool of his blood,” a resident said. 

 The residents called on the police to come to their aid.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said that he had yet to get the details of the incident.
