Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and suspected smugglers have reportedly clashed in Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State with one person killed and two others injured.
Our correspondent gathered the clash stemmed from the seizure of bags of smuggled rice earlier on Saturday.
Sources told City and Crime News that the smugglers mobilised and stormed the customs base along Abeokuta-Ayetoro road with a view to retrieving the rice.
This, it was gathered, led to a bloody clash between the smugglers and the security operatives.
One Dada AbdurRosheed popularly known as Yoboro was reportedly gunned down while two others sustained injuries.
When contacted, spokesperson of the customs in Ogun Area 1 Command, Hammed Oloyede, said he had not been briefed on the development.
Also, the spokesman of the NCS, Federal Operating Unit, Ikeja, Theophilus Duniya, said he was not aware of the incident.
