The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State has said that its men have arrested 27 persons believed to be cult members in Lafia.

 The Commandant of the corps in the state, Mr Bappa Abbas Muhammed, who disclosed this while parading the suspects, also revealed that as a result of cult activities in the state one person lost his life, adding that one person was macheted and now receiving treatment in a hospital, and reassured that the command would redouble effort in checkmating the activities of cult and other related cases.

Speaking to newsmen during the parade, Muhammad expressed worry with the increasing rate of cultism activities across the 13 LGAs of the state, particularly Lafia, the state capital.

 He noted that the command had launched a new security strategy to tackle the ugly menace, saying, “The new strategy has assisted the command in arresting 27 suspected cultists at various locations in the state capital.”

 Some of the suspects interviewed by our correspondent denied committing any crime while others accepted.
