One passenger died and 27 others sustained various injuries in two separate accidents that occurred along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

A witness said the first accident, which occurred on Tuesday at 7:45 am, involved a trailer with registration number FKY 155 XD. 

He said the trailer, which was traveling from the east to the north, veered off the road while trying to avoid a pothole. 

This crash resulted in one death and 22 injuries.

He said the second crash happened the same day around 2 pm and involved three vehicles: a Sino truck with registration number DFL 42 ZY, a Toyota Camry with registration number EPE 15 AL, and a Peugeot pickup van with registration number GWT 674 XM.

According to the witness, the crash occurred after the trailer lost control, and two other vehicles coming from behind at high speed crashed into it. This second crash left five passengers injured.

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) from the Abaji unit command, who was part of the rescue team but preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the death of one person, adding that 27 others sustained injuries in the two separate accidents.
