Some residents fled to safer areas as a result of the crisis that happened Friday evening.
The police spokesman in the state, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, while appealing for calm, said normalcy has been restored to the area.
He said the police were alerted about the skirmishes at Yelwan Tsakani, Lushi and Uguwan Kusu at about 10pm on Friday.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the disturbances emanated from a rivalry between the youths of Anguwan Taya and Yalwan Tsakani, which extended to other parts of Yelwa. Five houses were set ablaze, four persons sustained various degrees of injuries and one was certified dead by a medical doctor.”
The Police spokesman said “Police operatives comprising Tactical teams, Mobile Police Force, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) swiftly responded to the distress and brought the situation under control.”
He appealed to the public for calm and to go about their lawful businesses as normalcy had been restored in the affected area.
