One person was reportedly killed following a violent clash between rival cult groups in Ogheghe community, Upper Siluko Road, Benin City, Edo State.

The police have, however, arrested 13 suspects in connection with the violence and the killing of a youth in the area.

The incident reportedly happened on October 28, 2025, when a person identified as Chigozie Ifeonu (23), was stabbed in the chest during the disturbance.

He was said to have been rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) , where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

His corpse was deposited at the UBTH mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the police have restored normalcy in the area. 

He said the 13 suspects arrested in connection with the incident have been transferred to the Homicide Section, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for discreet investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, appealed to residents of the area to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, as the command remains committed to maintaining peace and order across the state.
