Tension has gripped residents of Akpanya community in Igala Mela/Odolu LGA of Kogi State following the killing of one Peter Abah in a robbery attack.

A witness said the incident happened at the weekend when the hoodlums, in their numbers, invaded the deceased’s house at Ubiaji, a farm settlement in Akpanya community, killed him and carted away valuables.

According to Yousuf Akoh, a resident in the community, the suspects struck around 12.30am at the deceased’s residence and inflicted multiple cuts on him, for refusing to comply with their directive and demand.

“Though some people are saying, it was herders’ attack. It’s a pure robbery incident. His neighbours said he put up a resistance which annoyed the hoodlums and they descended on him with machetes, inflicting him with multiple cuts.” he said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, did not reply to calls and text message sent to him on the incident.
