One person was killed and some vehicles were set ablaze by gunmen, who attacked a hotel belonging to Ikechukwu Odono, the chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The deceased was identified as Odono’s aide.
Witnesses said the incident happened on Sunday night.
A vigilante, who did not want to be named for safety reasons, said the hoodlums were heavily armed.
“Odono was saved but one Onwe Chukwuka, popularly known as Mature, was shot dead.

“Another person, Mr Odono Peter, popularly known as Cross, sustained a serious bullet wound. Also, nine vehicles were burnt by the hoodlums,” he said.
When contacted on Monday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident.
Ukandu disclosed that the incident took place in the night which led to the untimely death of one person.
“And several vehicles were set ablaze in the hotel by the gunmen during the attack.
“But the state police command has swung into action to unravel those behind the attack,” he said.
