A heavy downpour has killed a woman and destroyed several public facilities in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Besides the woman, four children sustained injuries while bridges, homes, shops and culverts were destroyed following the torrential rain which started Thursday night and lasted for over 10 hours till Friday.

It was gathered that the resultant erosion claimed the woman’s life at Onijo Compound in Pakata area of Ilorin West Local Government Area, while the collapsed wall of a building injured the children at Kankatu-Okelele area of Ilorin. Fish farms and ponds in many areas of the town were washed away.
Bridges between Kulende/Harmony Estate and Akerebiata area and another one between Medina and Technical area, Oloje, reportedly collapsed as a result of the downpour which destroyed residential buildings and submerged many businesses amongst other valuables worth several millions of naira.
Other areas affected include Asa Dam, Odota, Surulere, Baboko, Isale-Koko, and Airport area, Warrah Oja, Sawmill, Kuntu, Oloje, Sango, Isale Aluko, Offa Garage, Olulande and Agbo Oba.
