An NGO, B.A.B.E.S Redefined, has trained girls on shoemaking, leather works, makeup, among others, in Ogun State.

The girls were trained for 10 weeks on life and soft skills by the organisation under its Project Esther 2:0.

At the graduation ceremony held in Abeokuta, B.A.B.E.S Redefined’s officials, led by the Vice President, Chinelo Durojaiye, gave the trainees starter-packs for their trades and attached them to mentors.

Durojaiye explained that, “Project Esther is a teenage empowerment programme that caters for the needs and empowers teenage girls with life and socio-economic skills to be purposeful women as they grow.”

She said the programme started in Lagos and was spreading across the states of the federation.

The Project Coordinator, Project Esther 2:0, Dr Damilola Ibigbami, described the trainees as solution providers, saying some of them had already started doing business. 

Ibigbami, a lecturer with the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), called on the government to train more girls and favour them with policies, saying society would be better for it.
