NSF President Babatunde Fatayi-Williams told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the federation had commenced trials for the selection of the swimmers from the 20 currently in camp in Abuja.

He said the four weeks camping organised by the National Sports Commission (NSC) had improve the skills of the swimmers for the Games holding from Sept. 3 to Sept. 18.

“The swimmers are in top shape for the All Africa Games and banking on their current form, I believe they will excel at the competition.

“We want to use the opportunity of the Games to prove to Nigerians that swimming can still win medals for the country,’’ Fatayi-Williams said.

He commended the three swimmers who represented the country at the World Swimming Championships in Shangai, China, from July 22 to July 28 for doing their best at the championships.

He said that though they did not win any medal, the exposure they gained would aid their performance at future international competitions. (NAN)
