Several Kano residents on Thursday reflected on the dark day of January 20, 2012, when the Boko Haram insurgents launched their first coordinated attacks in the commercial city leaving hundreds dead and the city scared forever.

Many people that spoke to Daily Trust said they could not believe that it was already 10 years since the chain of attacks as the memories of the day and their losses still remain fresh, despite the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state.

Recall that the attacks, which were carried out at different places including the Farm Centre GSM market, Yar Akwa Police Station, Bompai Police Headquarters and others, claimed several lives including that of a Channels TV cameraman, who had gone to cover the first attack at the Farm Centre area.

Speaking to Daily Trust, Anas Aminu said the tragic incident turned him into a cripple but he is grateful for life.

He said as a result of that his business collapsed and now forced him to turn to a mechanic.

A businessman in Singer market, Basiru Jibrin said he still recalls how one of the bombs threw him off his motorcycle while he was on his way back to the market.

Several others also took to social media to reflect on the attacks and prayed for the souls of those that lost their lives to rest in peace.
