More than 100 teenagers from both private and public senior secondary schools in Abuja were trained in entrepreneurial skills recently.
The teenagers were taught on how to write business plans, promote businesses on the social media and legal procedures in business.
A statement issued by the head of NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW), Abuja Teenpreneurship Committee, Mrs Eucharia Akukwe, stressed the need for teenagers to start thinking about entrepreneurship early, describing entrepreneurship as a key factor for nation building.
She stated that “2014 and 2015 edition of the workshop focused on skill acquisition but 2016 edition was centered on entrepreneurial and leadership skills to run a successful business.”
The 2016 edition of the workshop was sponsored by the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC).
The Regional Public Affairs and Commercial Manager, North, NBC, Mr Aminu Mohammed, appreciated the network for organising the programme which he said would ignite the entrepreneurship spirit in teenagers and reduce the dependence on blue-collar jobs.
