10,000 receive free HIV/AIDS screening in Katsina

About 10,000 people in Katsina are expected to undergo free HImV/AIDS screening in an outreach program organised by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) in collaboration with Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).
Flagging off the four day programme at Malumfashi Local Government Area of the State, Governor Aminu Masari said his administration commitment towards reducing the HIV/AIDS scourge can be seen from the drop in the prevalence rate in the state.
Masari who was  represented by the state commissioner for Health, Hajiya Mariyatu Bala-Usman, said there are over 11,000 person living with HIV/Aids in the state and are being treated free saying that they  have scaled up treatment centres to 22 across the state.
Earlier, Director General of NACA, Prof. Dr John Idoku who was represented by the project capacity building officer, Barrister Jummai Danuk said the programme intends to create more awareness aimed at eradicating the disease by 2030.
