Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris yesterday said over 102 kidnappers have been arrested since the launch of Operation Absolute Sanity on Abuja-Kaduna highway in July.
The IGP, while speaking at 2nd Situation Room Dialogue Session organized by the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), said the security situation in the country has greatly improved.
“Since the launch of the Operation Absolute Sanity on Abuja-Kaduna Highway on 25thJuly, 2017, cases of kidnapping have reduced to zero level, seventy two (72) suspected kidnappers, including their mastermind kingpins and armourers were arrested within two weeks of the launch of the operation.
“The operation was extended to Suleja-Bida-Minna roads in Niger state last month, more than 30 kidnap suspects who relocated from Abuja-Kaduna highway due to the massive deployments of Police personnel were arrested before they unleash mayhem on innocent citizens,” the IGP said.
