Islam is a religion of Tawheed as against events during Mawlid
The religion of Islam advocates for monotheism at all ramifications, but the practice of excessive eulogy is a kind of Shirk that does not concord well with Islam. Instead of praising Allah S.W.T., the Prophet S.A.W.S. is the one being praised at Mawlid! The directive of the Prophet S.A.W.S. is very clear when he cautions in an Hadith that: “Do not extole me the way the Nazarenes have extolled the son of Maryam, I am no more than a servant [to Allah]. So, just be saying: Allah’s servant and His Messenger.”-Agreed upon.
If we are serious about Tawheed, then we must abide by this prophetic directive that he should be addressed only as Allah’s servant and messenger, not as the celebrants are fond of chanting stanzas taken from the poems of Imam al-Busayree of Egypt who says in his Burdah: O you Prophet! The whole world and hereafter are just part of your generosity. Also, a little part of your ocean of knowledge is all that is endowed on the preserved tablet and the writing pen!
