The immediate past chairman of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Council of Plateau State, Hon. Jok Alamba, has called on both local and international organisations to come to the aid of the survivors of the 2010 attacks in Dogo Nahawa village where hundreds were killed.
He spoke at the fundraising ceremony by Dominion Mind Concept for the execution of an ICT and Tech Hub as well as the renovation of the community’s clinic.
“It is a community that has been devastated and witnessed the highest level of human brutality and wickedness. It also experienced hardship and felt highly dejected and hopeless.
“But for the intervention and efforts of well-meaning individuals and organizations, only God knows what could have happened and what would have been the position of this community today.
“NGOs have been on ground for almost one year in Dogo Nahawa to sympathise with the community or give support to the people,” he said.
He commended the community for standing firm even with the experience they had, and called on both government, local and international organisations to revisit the plight of the community.
In his remarks, the community leader, Da Pam Gyang, said the people did not retaliate because they believe God is in control.
He called for prayers from all and sundry for the community and urged for support for the completion of all the projects in their community to give renewed life and confidence to the people.
The CEO of Dominion Minds Concept, Amb. Isaac Bitrus, said the NGO is building a Digital Literacy centre/tech hub and the renovation of the community’s only clinic.
The ICT and tech hub are to address the issue of adult literacy and for the younger generation to be equipped with knowledge.
Bitrus said the N60 million fundraising is for the execution of the projects designated for the community in honour of the over 300 people killed in the attack.
