About 115 orphans and less privileged children in Kankia Local government area of Katsina state have been given free school uniforms and other instructional materials with a view to encouraging stay in the schools.
The chairman of Sabuwar-Abuja Youth Development and Empowerment Association (SAYDEA), Malam Shuaibu Haruna, said the effort was aimed at complementing governments’ efforts toward assisting orphans and less privileged children to further their education.
He said the association raised its funds through monthly contributions from about 50 members to execute various community related programs in the area.
He said that the association would extend scope of the programme to enable more people benefit from its gesture across the state.
