The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi State has said that it has released the charred remains of 13 victims of an auto crash in Obajana on Easter Sunday to their families for burial in Plateau State.
Mr Samuel Oyedeji, the sector commander, who disclosed this on Thursday, said the corpses were handed over to their families on Wednesday.
Oyedeji said, “We were contemplating giving the victims a mass burial in Lokoja if their relatives didn’t come forward to claim the charred bodies.
“As we were discussing with the police and the authorities of Lokoja LGA, we received a call from the owner of the affected Sharon bus, and shortly after that we got to know that the victims were all from Plateau.

“The families demanded that the bodies be released to them for burial. Consequently, the bodies were released to them on Wednesday and they got a bus which helped to move them to Jos.”
He explained that the 13 victims were killed in a Sharon bus which was engulfed by fire close to the Obajana market when a truck hit it from behind, and that two persons who were injured in the crash were receiving treatment in a hospital in the state. (NAN)
