132 Libya returnees arrive Lagos

Some 132 stranded Nigerians in Libya arrived Lagos yesterday under the evacuation exercise of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the European Union (EU).

The arrival of the 132 comprising 35 females and 97 males made it 313 to be repatriated by IOM in 2018.

The IOM project which helped in evacuating of over 6000 in 2017 is funded by the EU under the Migration Governance and Reintegration in Nigeria Project.

The exercise is different from the ongoing evacuation of over 5000 being carried out by the Federal Government.

The 132 immigrants came aboard a chartered Global Africa flight which arrived the cargo terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos around 5:30 pm.
