Thirteen years after the passing of Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, the political titan fondly called Oloye, his family and supporters say the void he left behind remains deeply felt.

Family members, associates and admirers of the late Waziri of Ilorin gathered in his Iloffa GRA residence on Friday for special Islamic prayers in his memory.

The remembrance session led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solih.

Solih, who quoted copiously from the Qur’an, described the late political leader as a man whose life reflected generosity, compassion and service to humanity.

Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, who led the family to the event, offered prayers to Almighty Allah to grant his father eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus.

He said the family remains grateful to those who continue to honour Oloye’s memory and support the values he lived by.

“Thirteen years have passed since my father, Oloye, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, passed away.

“Today, as we remember his life and enduring legacy, I pray that Almighty Allah continues to grant him a place among the righteous ones in Aljannah Firdaus.

“I also pray that He gives us the strength to continue honouring the great Oloye’s memory through humility and service to our people. Baba, we miss you,” he said.

He added that the family appreciates the clerics, friends and supporters who attended the prayers led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin.

In his sermon, the Grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Dan Borno, said the late Saraki was a symbol of generosity whose life offers lessons in community spirit.

According to him, the deceased was known for giving without hesitation and relying solely on Allah for sustenance.

He added that the late leader devoted himself to the progress of Kwara and worked tirelessly for its people.

He also noted that the unity and progress of Saraki’s children reflect the strong foundation he laid.

Dignitaries at the prayer included Peoples Democratic Party chieftains, women, youths, supporters and family members, as well as other well wishers.

Also in attendance were the party’s governorship aspirants, Prof. Ahmad Ali, Engineer Kale Kawu, Ladi Hassan and Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN, among others.

Earlier, Sheikh Suleiman Aduagba led the former Senate President, friends and family members to offer prayers at the deceased grave site.
