The University of Abuja will induct 18 out of its 30 medical students that enrolled in its medical programme on December 2, 2017 following their success in the final MBBS examinations (Part IV) conducted at the university during the week.

Results of the final professional examinations released by the institution on Friday showed that five of the successful medical students passed with distinction in surgery, a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications, Waziri Garba, said.

According to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Michael U. Adikwu, said the event was significant in the history of the medical school as the graduands were the first set that surmounted all the teething problems associated with starting such a programme and the rigours of training required by the profession. 

The induction ceremony, he said, will feature a lecture by a renowned member of the medical profession, a professor of Public Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Professor Adetokumbo Ademola Lucas. 

The event will also honour the pioneer Provost of the University’s College of Health Sciences, Professor J.A.M Otubu.
