14, 000 Nigerian pilgrims arrive Saudi Arabia

About 14,714 Nigerian pilgrims have so far been airlifted by the National Hajj Commission Nigeria (NAHCON) to Saudi Arabia ahead of the 2018 Hajj pilgrimage.

Fifty-five thousands Nigerians is expected to perform the Hajj this year, according to the NAHCON chief executive, Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad.

The pilgrims, drawn from eight states, were mostly flown directly to Madina, in 35 flights.

Already, Kogi and Nasarawa states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have completed the airlift of their pilgrims to the holy land.  Kogi State had 446 pilgrims, Nasarawa 616, and the FCT 1,452.

As of Sunday afternoon, Kaduna has so far airlifted 1,627 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, Lagos 1,273, Sokoto 1,727, Kwara 1,611, and Niger 553.
