A total of 144 tennis players are taking part in the 2021 Rainoil Tennis Open which began on December 2 at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the organisers, 64 players are slugging it out in the Men’s singles event, 32 in Women’s singles, 32 in Men’s doubles and another 32 in Women’s doubles of the event which will end on December 11.

 The Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited, Dr. Gabriel Ogbechie, who was represented by the Group Head, Strategy and Business Development, Mr. Emmanuel Omuojine at the press conference to usher in the tournament, said this year’s event is themed ‘Fueling the love for tennis’

 He also said the tournament is sanctioned by the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) and participating players would also earn ranking points.

 “The open nature of the competition ensures that we partner with the Nigerian Tennis Federation (NTF) who provided the player rankings. The Rainoil Tennis Open is an NTF sanctioned competition and participating players will also earn ranking points.

“Rainoil has been sponsoring tennis for close to a decade and this competition is our contribution to youth and sports development, using Tennis as a platform. The competition brings players together in a friendly atmosphere and gives them the opportunity to gain bragging rights and improve their ranking.” he stated.
