The management of the University of Maiduguri has said that a total of 147 graduates bagged first class, as Vice President Kashim Shettima and notable northerners will receive honorary doctorate degrees at the 24th combined convocation ceremony of the varsity.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, stated this during a press conference in Maiduguri yesterday.
He noted that the university would be graduating a total of thirty three thousand, four hundred and twenty nine (33,429) students from the 2018/2019, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic sessions.
He described the Unimaid’s 24th convocation as special in many ways because “It is the first one since 2018 except for some special convocation:, adding that “The Endowment Fund will be re-launched and honorary doctorate degrees will be conferred on four distinguished personalities: Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Umar In Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman BUA Group and Alhaji Dr. Dahiru Bobbo, the former Registrar of the UniMaid for their remarkable contributions to the university and society, “he said.

He acknowledged the dedication of staff and students’ commitment to maintain a high standard of education and research.
