At least 15 people were arrested on Thursday and charged to court on Friday for proceeding with construction on vacant plots at River Park Estate, Lugbe.

The said plots were reverted to the Federal Capital Territory Administration after the withdrawal of their lease agreement. The suspects, who are workers for an estate developer, were taken into custody by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) after enforcement officers stormed the site.

According to the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the FCT Minister, ACP Mohammed Iya, the incident followed a series of confrontations with the developer, who had vowed not to honor any invitations from the FCT Administration.

He disclosed that the developer was subsequently taken to the IRT, where he was later detained alongside 15 workers who were picked up at the site.

Meanwhile, the Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, who also confirmed the arrests, said the suspects would be prosecuted in court for violating ministerial directives.
